Typesetting 

We typeset books for independent publishers, self-published authors, local history societies, and community groups. If you need professional formatting for your publication, we’ve got you covered. 

Whether it’s a poetry collection, novel, memoir, or bird book, we’ll help you choose the right layout, number the pages, eliminate widows and orphans, and apply headers or footers if needed. We guide you through the proofing stage with PDFs or printed proofs (additional costs apply) and deliver the final PDF in press-ready format. 

Once your writing is complete, we’ll handle the rest, offering hardback, paperback, wiro-bound, or saddle-stitched options.

Proofreading

**Typesetting**

Typesetting is the first step in our production process because we assume all documents submitted to us are ready for publication. If this is not the case, your book will require a proofreader. Even Stephen Fry's books undergo proofreading before millions of copies are printed. If necessary, we will apologize profusely to Mr. Fry and send him a gift card for a Costa Cappuccino.

If you have run your book through a spellchecker or Grammarly, it still needs to be proofread. While your Aunt Mabel may have the skills to do this for free, our professional proofreading service is priced at £10 per thousand words.

Cover Design

You'll need a cover. Pretty much all books have them.

Some clients like to provide their own, some supply images for us to design something for them, while others give us a casual brief and leave us to get creative.

Our cover design charge usually ranges between £90 - £240, although sometimes it can be considerably more depending on what is required.  Illustrations, maps, photo work and the like, all add to the time it takes and therefore the cost, but with clear instructions as to style and layout, with images and blurb supplied we can keep costs at the lower end of the spectrum.

Please note an ISBN and barcode can be supplied for £50.
